What is CCTV?
What is CCTV?
CCTV is an abbreviation of Closed Circuit Television.
Broadcast television, which we receive on our home television
sets, is openly available and can be received by anyone whose
TV set is properly tuned to the transmission signal of a
particular TV station.
CCTV on the other hand, is a closed circuit system, which
means that it is only tuned into, and transmits to, the
equipment linked together in that specific system. This way the
video images created by the CCTV setup are closed to any other
receiving device (eg other monitors) and can only be viewed by
the owner/operator of the CCTV system.
What is a CCTV monitor?
A cctv monitor is needed to reproduce the images recorded by
cctv cameras. It is similar to a normal television set in the
way it can display quality images on a screen, but is
different, inasmuch as it contains no electronics for tuning
into broadcast stations. It only displays the images being
monitored by the CCTV cameras in the system. CCTV monitors tend
to give a higher quality picture than Television screens.
