Home Burglar Alarms
Alarm
Systems
Installing an alarm system in your home can reduce the
possibility of you becoming a victim of house burglary. The
simple visible presence of an alarm can be sufficient deterrent
to prevent your home from being targeted for robbery.
An alarm system typically consists of a control panel and a
series of motion detectors that are fitted in different parts
of your house. When you leave the property, the alarm is
activated by you inputting your own password, and once the door
closes behind you the alarm system is activated.
When you return home you need to input your password again
to de-activate the system. Should an intruder enter your home
in your absence with the alarm activated, a loud - very loud in
some cases - audible warning is triggered. The bell, siren or
clacker - whatever alarm sounder is used - sounds off both
within and outside the house, creating both the fear of
detection in the intruder, as well as creating an uncomfortably
loud environment in which to continue his activity.
Home alarm systems can be installed by the DIY enthusiast as
well as by professional installers, with a similar standard of
alarm equipment being available to both. Whereas the 'bells
only' traditional type of alarm system can be adequately
installed by a property owner the same is not necessarily true
of a monitored alarm system. These are best installed by the
company providing the home security monitoring service
Monitored alarm systems cost more but provide 'around the
clock' care of your home. If the alarm is activated a signal is
sent to an alarm receiving centre that monitors your system,
and it will respond by contacting the police or a key holder or
any individual that you stipulate when you enter into an
agreement for the service.
Home burglar alarms can either hard-wired into position or
wireless. These wire free burglar alarms offer great
flexibility in installation.
